Innovative Approach in Pediatric Dentistry: Eye Massage Device and Natural Sounds Reducing Anxiety and Pain in Dental Settings

Posted: January 11, 2025
A randomized controlled trial evaluated the effectiveness of an eye massage device combined with natural sounds in reducing anxiety and pain in children undergoing dental anesthesia. The study included 105 children aged 8-10 years receiving inferior alveolar nerve block injections. Results showed that the intervention groups experienced significantly lower anxiety and pain levels compared to the control group. The massage device targeted acupressure points, providing relaxation and pain relief. Natural sounds enhanced the calming effect. Objective measurements, such as pulse rate and observational scales, supported the findings. The study suggests that the combination of eye massage and natural sounds is a promising intervention to alleviate dental anxiety and pain in children.
