Meta-Analysis Reveals Contrasts in Working Length Measurement Methods for Primary Teeth

Posted: January 8, 2025
This systematic review and meta-analysis compared the accuracy of working length measurements in primary teeth using traditional radiographic methods versus electronic apex locators (EAL). Findings revealed that conventional radiography (CR) resulted in a slightly greater working length measurement compared to EAL. However, no significant difference was found when comparing EAL to digital radiography (DR). The overall evidence certainty was considered low for all outcomes. This study emphasizes the importance of choosing the most accurate method for determining working length in primary teeth to enhance the quality of root canal treatments in pediatric dentistry.
