Innovative Sivan Classification System Enhances Jaw Lesion Diagnosis Using 3D CBCT Analysis

Posted: December 30, 2024
The Sivan classification system introduces a novel approach for diagnosing jaw lesions using visual volumetric analysis of 3D cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) images. This system categorizes lesions into ten groups based on volume, cortical involvement, and internal structure. A reliability study involving general dentists and oral radiology specialists showed excellent interrater agreement (kappa 0.82) and strong intrarater reliability (kappa 0.79-0.89). The system offers a standardized and precise method for diagnosing jaw lesions, surpassing traditional methods in accuracy and consistency. By integrating advanced visualization techniques, the Sivan classification sets a new standard for CBCT diagnosis in oral and maxillofacial radiology.
