Systematic Review: Soft and Hard Tissue Changes in Immediate Implant Placement

Posted: December 2, 2024
This systematic review and meta-analysis explored soft and hard tissue changes following immediate implant placement and loading in the aesthetic zone. The study highlighted the advantages of Type I immediate implant placement in reducing treatment time and post-extraction bone loss. It emphasized the challenges posed by insufficiently keratinized mucosa for achieving primary stability. The findings suggested that immediate implant placement with provisionalization resulted in less facial gingival recession compared to socket graft groups. While implant-related complications were higher in immediate placement, overall success and survival rates were similar to delayed implant placement. The study underscored the importance of long-term research and attention to aesthetic outcomes in immediate implant procedures.
