CHICAGO—The Chicago Dental Society (CDS) named Cheryl Mora, DDS, MAGD, of Vernon Hills, Ill., Director of Scientific Programs for the organization. She assumed the position on March 1, 2023, and succeeded Ted Borris, DDS, who stepped down from the role after eight years. As the Director of Scientific Programs, Mora will oversee the development, coordination and execution of all high-quality educational and scientific programming for CDS.

Mora holds a Bachelor of Science and Nursing from Vanderbilt University and earned her dental degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Dentistry. Previously, she ran two general dentistry practices, one in Vernon Hills, Ill., and the other in Arlington Heights, Ill.

Mora has run the continuing education programs for the Illinois Academy of General Dentistry (ILAGD) for the past 20 years. She has also served as president of ILAGD, chair of the ILAGD Continuing Education Committee and oversaw the Master Track Program, designed for doctors who want to receive a Mastership designation from the Academy. She also previously served as Program Chair for the 2021 Midwinter Meeting, playing a role in creating the educational program for that meeting, which was hosted as a virtual event for the first time in the Midwinter Meeting’s 156-year history.
