Adopt a Slang

Now that these unfortunate words and phrases have entered today’s vernacular, it’s time to start incorporating them into your daily use; if nothing else, it will herald the end for these absolutely annoying bits of slang. After all, what better way to make something cheugy than for a bunch of olds to start doing it? Start using these around your team and let us know which one gets the most eye rolls.

Cheugy
Were you already struggling with this one? It means “not at all cool.”
Example: It’s obvious you haven’t been flossing. I know it’s cheugy, but you know what? Neither is interproximal caries, fam.

Cap/no cap
It’s an older code, sir, but it checks out, as Star Wars might put it. Cap means “to lie.”
Example: After finishing your exam, you’re going to need a cap on that tooth, no cap.

Glow-up
A great makeover.
Example: Have you taken Dr. Bob’s newest course on full-mouth glow-ups?

Periodt
That wasn’t a typo. That’s how it is spelled. You say this at the end of a statement to add emphasis.
Example: You need to consult a periodontist, periodt.

Bussin’
Delicious.
Example: I suggest you try the piña colada polishing paste. It’s bussin’!

Guap
Lots of money.
Example: These insurance companies are raking guap out from under me!

E-boy or e-girl
People who use the internet to express themselves.
Example: The e-boys on the message boards are salty today!

Dank
Especially high quality.
Example: I don’t often pat myself on the back, but that restoration was dank!

Ghosting
When someone starts to ignore you, usually in the earlier stages of a relationship.
Example: I think some of our new patients are ghosting us.

Drip
Swag. No, not the kind you get at dental conventions. It means a trendy, sexy style.
Example: I have to say these new scrubs have a certain drip to them.

Big yikes
Ultimate embarrassment.
Example: I’m afraid I have some bad news. I broke a file somewhere in your molar. Big yikes!

Snack
An attractive person.
Example: Just a follow-up to yesterday’s incident. No more calling the sales rep a snack. He’s onto us.

Humor with bite
