ADA Establishes New Oversight Agency for Continuing
Education Recognition Program
The ADA 2014 House of Delegates recently established a new
commission to oversee the ADA Continuing Education Recognition
Program (CERP). As an agency of the ADA, with independent authority
to approve continuing education (CE) providers that meet rigorous
standards for quality, the new Commission for Continuing Education
Provider Recognition (CCEPR) will ensure that CERP meets the standard
of impartiality required of agencies that approve providers of CE.
The CCEPR will include 16 members appointed by the ADA, the
American Association of Dental Boards, the American Dental Education
Association, the American Society of Constituent Dental Executives,
and the national associations of the nine ADA-recognized dental
specialties. This group has the authority to approve CE providers, adopt
standards and policies and manage administration of the program. Visit
ADA.org. for more information.

ADA Signs Agreement with The Motion Picture Licensing
Corporation
The ADA has negotiated an agreement with the Motion Picture
Licensing Corporation that gives ADA members the opportunity to
obtain a reduced-rate license to exhibit movies and other audiovisual
programs at their offices in a copyright compliant manner.
The license, known as an umbrella license, provides dentists the
rights to show a wide array of movies, popular children's programs,
educational documentaries, and other audiovisual content for entertainment
purposes in their patient waiting rooms and exam rooms.
Movies can be shown from more than 650 Hollywood studios,
independent, special interest, children-related and foreign producers.
Once a license is secured, dental practices can rent or purchase movies
and play them without the need for any further reporting.
