What's New in Continuing Education?

by Howard M. Goldstein, DMD, Director of Continuing Education
It is summertime (in the Northern Hemisphere anyway) and time to go to the beach and take some Dentaltown CE on your iPad.

We had two live webinars presented in the last month that are now archived as Dentaltown CE.

The first one is from Dr. Scott MacLean called Restoring Implants: Tips, Techniques and Lab Communication.

Dr. Maclean answers the following questions:
  • What are the choices for restoring an implant with a single crown?
  • What are the issues to consider when choosing the implant restoration?
  • Should you choose cement- or screw-retained options?
  • Does zirconia work well as an implant crown abutment or crown substructure?
  • How do you communicate with the dental lab technician regarding your possible implant prosthetic choices?
  • What should the occlusion pattern be on a single implant-supported crown?
The second webinar is from Dr. Gerard Kugel on Sharpening Your Cementation Skills.

In this presentation, Dr. Kugel discusses the decision-making criteria in selecting luting agents based on restorative materials and preparation designs. Current materials and techniques for cementation of contemporary all-ceramic restorations are reviewed. Additionally, clinical conditions that lead to success or failure of the restorations are outlined with clinical tips for ultimate success with various restorative materials, such as zirconia and lithium disilicate.

In addition, these two excellent courses were added to Dentaltown:

Implants Made Easy by Dr. August de Oliveira.
One can't open up a journal without seeing at least two articles on implantology. Through techniques such as grafting, the use of CBCT scans and guided surgery, placing implants is becoming more and more accessible to the general practitioner. At times it's hard to evaluate if implantology is a path you want to take. This course is aimed at giving the general dentist the information needed to evaluate edentulous sites and determine if a case is within the realm of the dentist's skill set. Topics included are demographics, terminology, anatomy, armamentarium, surgical steps and guided surgery.

And coming soon: The Lease: The Dentist's Forgotten Asset by Jason Wood, BA, JD.
This course is designed to educate dentists on the intricacies of a commercial lease and educate what is contained in the lease they will be signing in connection with the ownership of their dental practices. An in-depth investigation into the many provisions which can materially harm a dentist in connection with a future sale, or impact the goodwill the dentist will be generating at the practice, and numerous other provisions that can negatively impact their dental practices if modifications are not sought from the landlords are discussed. The goal of this presentation is to equip each dentist with a thorough understanding of the commercial lease as it has evolved (and continues to evolve) in ways that may materially harm the dentist's future financial well-being.

And of course we have Dr. Howard Farran's One-Day Dental MBA available on Dentaltown. Dr. Farran shares his proven techniques to increase your productivity, boost your bottom line and build your business. Don't miss his live and unfiltered insights on dentistry and business along with an insider's view of his dental practice.

Enjoy learning from the comfort of your home!
