What is the most common location for a dentigerous cyst?

  1. Erupting incisors
  2. Erupting premolars
  3. Roots of molars
  4. Erupting third molars

Answer: D. Erupting third molars

A dentigerous cyst, also called a follicular cyst, forms from the accumulation of fluid between the reduced enamel epithelium and the crown of an unerupted or partially erupting tooth. The cyst most commonly forms around the mandibular third molars. The cyst is often treated by excision.

Roots are not associated with periapical cysts, not dentigerous cyst.
