The other day I was doing a crown preparation on a tooth restored with a large amalgam restoration and amalgam residue got into the gums and cheeks which were mildly abraded due to working in the area.I tried to use desensitizer to address it at that point to no avail.Any ideas recommendations of dealing with amalgam tattoo before healing by primary intention.

can't order burs from Ebay...or Amazon. Don't you remember the story about the dentist using a cheap round bur on a molar and it separated from the bur shaft. know how to get it back to normal? That whole piece is a clamshell which will come apart exposing the innards. Should be two screws on the other side (opposite the button, at the pivots - I think). Odds are good some disinfectant got in there and gummed up the mechanism or it just got jammed. Either way, opening it up will allow you to see what the problem is so you can then free it.
