firmly believe that polished amalgams are healthier much longer than unpolished. If I had more time I'd get them back but it becomes an inconvenience for many patients.I love polishing amalgams when I can. Sometimes when they come back for subsequent appts I'll polish the other while waiting

I admit though, composite is always my go to material unless impossible to isolate (large tongue, incredible saliva flow, subgingival gum bleeding), then i reach for either amalgam
