Cavity Dragons Aims to Defeat Childhood Tooth Decay

Posted: February 13, 2014
Vicky Keston, a mother of two young children, was all too familiar with the daily battle to get her little ones to brush their teeth. While online one day she was shocked when she discovered the statistic that children ages 5 to 17, will miss 51-million hours of school this year due to tooth decay (the #1 child illness).  Now her company, Gooseling, that she co-founded with her sister (also a mom of two) is aiming to change that statistic with its first two video games available as mobile apps that are designed to teach kids the importance of brushing their teeth.  Cavity Dragons and Cavity Dragon's Pro takes tooth brushing a step further by letting kids see that even if they're eating healthy, these 'good for you' foods can still feed cavities.

Cavity Dragons is designed for 3 to 5 year olds. In Cavity Dragons Pro, children, ages 6 to 8, have to move fast in order to defeat the cavity dragons without losing teeth by moving a fireman to put out small fires and food bits with toothpaste.  If the children don't move quickly enough to clear the fireballs and food bits of broccoli, popcorn, and candy being created by the Cavity Dragons, then a cavity appears.  If too many cavities appear, then all the teeth fall out. When children defeat the Cavity Dragons, they are rewarded with points and coins and win the game.

Cavity Dragons Pro retails at $2.99 on iTunes, and more can be found at www.gooseling.com
