Treatment Planning and Functional Esthetic Excellence

St. Petersburg, FL – March 16, 2009 – The Dawson Academy understands how important it is for dentists and specialists to establish a step-by-step process for treatment planning any restorative case, from the simplest to the most complex.  That’s why The Academy offers a course focused on teaching students how to integrate a comprehensive treatment planning process into their practice.

The two-and-a-half-day hands-on course, Treatment Planning Functional Esthetic Excellence, will be given by John C. Cranham, DDS, or Glenn E. DuPont, DDS, and will take place on the following dates and locations:
  • Mar. 16-18, 2009 (The Dawson Academy, St. Petersburg, FL)
  • May 7-9, 2009 (The Dawson Academy, St. Petersburg, FL)
  • Jun. 4-6, 2009 (Mid-Atlantic Center, Chesapeake, VA)
  • Aug. 6-8, 2009 (Traverse City, MI)
  • Oct. 15-17, 2009 (Mid-Atlantic Center, Chesapeake, VA)
  • Nov. 9-11, 2009 (The Dawson Academy, St. Petersburg, FL)

This hands-on course is part of The Dawson Academy’s Core Curriculum and is limited to 20 dentists and/or specialists.  The fee is $3,400 per student, and each student will receive 20 continuing education credits after completing the course.  Prior to taking this course, it’s strongly recommended that students take The Academy’s Functional Occlusion – From TMJ to Smile Design and/or Achieving Predictable Esthetic Results lectures.

About the Course
This hands-on course provides the participant with a programmed approach to diagnosis and treatment planning.  Utilizing the standardized records taught in the lecture course, Functional Occlusion – From TMJ to Smile Design, each dentist will learn how to visualize optimum dentistry from an esthetic, functional, biological and structural perspective.  Special emphasis will be placed on the four options of treatment (reshaping, repositioning, restoring and surgical correction), so that the correct option(s) are chosen for each patient.  Additionally, each student will learn how to segment large treatment plans, so that patients with financial issues can receive optimum care over time.  The focus of the program is to integrate a comprehensive treatment planning process into their practice.  Suggestions will also be made on creating time and a place for optimum treatment planning.  Finally, a consultation process will be discussed in detail, insuring each participant will enjoy a healthy care acceptance rate.

About the Core Curriculum
The Dawson Academy’s Core Curriculum teaches the fundamental principles and clinical skills that make dentistry completely predictable.  The essence of the curriculum is that the teeth are only one part of the masticatory system, and when the entire system functions in harmony, teeth are healthy and stable.  Understanding the masticatory system enables you to precisely determine the exact position and contour of anterior teeth – no guess work required.  When examined and diagnosed within the framework of the entire system, problems such as excessive tooth wear, sore teeth and masticatory muscles, and fractured restorations can all be solved.  Completion of the Core Curriculum will move you beyond being a “tooth doctor” and set you on the path of becoming a “physician of the masticatory system.”
