Exploring the Impact of Chinese Propolis on Dental Pulp Stem Cells and Inflammation

Posted: December 25, 2024
This study investigated the effects of Chinese propolis on dental pulp stem cells (DPSCs) regarding viability, migration, differentiation, and cytokine expression. Both aqueous and ethanolic extracts of propolis did not affect DPSC viability at lower doses but showed a dose-dependent decrease at higher doses. Propolis extracts induced DPSC migration and exhibited anti-inflammatory properties by modulating cytokine expression. These findings suggest that propolis extracts could be utilized in regenerative endodontic procedures as a potential intra-canal medicament.
