The Ceramic Update
“The recent evolution in ceramic and CAD/CAM technologies is breathtaking, but
leaves many open questions in restorative and implant dentistry,” says Dr Markus
B. Blatz, who will be giving a lecture at the BACD Annual Conference entitled The
CERAMIC UPDATE. “Questions like: What are the best treatment options and ceramics
for our patients? What is the difference between silica-based, high-strength, and
hybrid ceramic materials from an aesthetic, functional, and biologic standpoint?
Is all zirconia the same?
Throughout his presentation, Dr Blatz will endeavour to answer these and other
questions, in order to cast aside the misinformation surrounding these topics. He
will also be discussing with delegates the ins and outs of aesthetic, less invasive and
long-term function treatment options; this, he says, will range from conservative
veneers to implant-supported full-mouth rehabilitations, providing delegates with
an eclectic variety of information and advice.
There can be no doubt that The CERAMIC UPDATE will epitomise the Academy’s
dedication to providing exemplary education to UK dental professionals. To be
sure you do not miss this fantastic lecture, save the dates for the BACD Annual
Conference in your diary today!

A Radical Message
“My session is geared towards helping dentists identify what makes their
practices unique, what makes their services indispensible to prospective
patients,” says Michael DiFrisco, who will be giving a lecture on radical
branding at the BACD Annual Conference in 2017. “Together, we will be looking
through my RADICAL branding construct that will reveal seven critical rules
for developing a power ful – maybe even an outrageous – brand for
your dental practice. Because, after all, playing it safe is the sure path
to invisibility.
“We’ll also be looking at an Inside Out Marketing Strategy that will show delegates
how they can authentically capture the attention of patients without looking too
much like a commodity. I will be explaining how marketing is a process, not an event,
and teaching delegates how to help prospective patients lower the risk of taking
the next step in the sales cycle to help increase trust and compliance.”
Tickets will be going on sale for the BACD Annual Conference later in the year,

MicroVision at the BACD
“In modern dentistry, it is a well known fact that
the less you invade the better your results will
be,” says Dr Maxim Belograd, who will be giving
a lecture entitled, The MicroVision approach in
direct and indirect restorations. Challenge or
combination? at this year’s British Academy of
Cosmetic Dentistry (BACD) Annual Conference.
“It’s also true that the better you can see, the
more precise you can be. These fundamental
aspects multiplied with knowledge, passion and
skills have been crucial in the creation of a new
philosophy of microdentistry – MicroVision.
“During my lecture, I will be discussing with delegates the nuances of modern
minimal invasive approaches in both restorative and aesthetic dentistry. I will
be discussing techniques that allow us to save sound tissues during preparation
and excavation. Alongside this, we will also be covering direct resin restorations
and indirect techniques based on the MicroVision philosophy to ensure long-term
aesthetic results.”
Dr Belograd’s lecture will be one of many inspiring sessions at the BACD Annual
Conference this November, where hundreds of aspiring dental professionals will have
the opportunity to come together to learn more about the world of cosmetic dentistry.

The BACD in Glasgow
“The speakers at the BACD’s Glasgow meeting were world-class and extremely
knowledgeable,” says Jon Benton, a dentist from Buckinghamshire who travelled
up to Scotland to hear Drs Andrew Chandrapal and Attiq Rahman discuss, ‘Perfect
Anteriors: Direct and Indirect Approaches.’ “The subjects that were discussed are
very relevant to everyday cosmetic practice and both Andrew and Attiq shared
some very practical tips. In fact, I was able to implement a number of different
points in my own practice! I travelled from London to Glasgow in order to attend this
regional meeting – that’s how worthwhile I think they are – and I would absolutely
recommend them to all dentists and students.”
As part of the BACD’s commitment to providing dental professionals in the UK with
exceptional education and support, the Academy runs an indispensable meetings
programme across the country, to inspire and educate aspiring dentists.
Offering the opportunity to learn exciting new techniques from some of the field’s
leading lights, the meetings are also an exceptional chance for attendees to meet
and network with like-minded professionals.
Be sure to keep an eye out for the next BACD Regional Meeting in your area, and
make sure you book your place as soon as possible!
