with Dr Andrew Chandrapal and Dr Attiq Rahman

The British Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (BACD) is absolutely committed to bringing exceptional education to U.K. dental professionals, which is why it holds regular regional meetings to ensure that dentists and technicians across the country have access to expert advice and information.

The BACD regional meetings programme has been an invaluable tool for dental professionals in recent years, and the Academy hopes that its reimagined programme, which has replaced evening sessions with full-day lectures, will enhance the daily practice of all those who attend.

Starting off this year’s regional meetings, BACD President Dr Andrew Chandrapal and Dr Attiq Rahman gave a session entitled ‘Perfect Anteriors: Direct and Indirect Approaches’ in Glasgow, giving attendees an indispensible insight into this increasingly popular cosmetic technique.

Chandrapal is one of the U.K.’s most respected cosmetic dentists. He has many years’ experience in all aspects of restorative dentistry and is dedicated to updating his knowledge with international studies on a regular basis. His session in Glasgow was focused on helping professionals create lifelike restorations in the anterior—something which, he told attendees, requires the visual acuity of a dental technician combined with a complete knowledge of composite resins.

Rahman is a well-respected dentist who has acquired hundred of hours of postgraduate training from some of the best cosmetic dentists in the world. He is a familiar face at the BACD and an excellent educator. His session complimented Chandrapal’s perfectly, by looking at the benefits of indirect restorations. He also provided attendees with expert advice on minimal preparation and impression techniques that could be implemented easily into their everyday practice.

Bringing their combined expertise to the session, Chandrapal and Rahman’s session was well received by the attendees who had travelled to Scotland to hear what they had to say.

‘The speakers at Glasgow’s meeting were world-class and extremely knowledgeable,’ said Jon Benton, a dentist who works in Buckinghamshire and London. ‘The subjects that were discussed are very relevant to everyday cosmetic practice and both speakers shared some very practical tips. In fact, I was able to implement a number of different points in my own practice! I travelled from London to Glasgow to attend this regional meeting—that’s how worthwhile I think they are—and I would absolutely recommend them to all dentists and students.’”

Held in locations across the U.K., the regional meetings programme is indispensible for aspiring dental professionals, offering the opportunity to learn exciting new techniques from some of the field’s leading lights. The meetings are also an exceptional chance for dentists to meet and network with like-minded professionals and expand their clinical horizons. Open to members and nonmembers alike, they’re unbeatable learning experiences.

Keep an eye out for the next BACD Regional Meeting in your area, and make sure you book your place as soon as possible.
