Socket Grafting Simplified By: Jeffrey Gross, DDS, FAGD

I was asked by some of our colleagues to post a case on socket grafting. At least once a week, I receive a call regarding how to accomplish this in a non-complicated fashion. Does such a concept exist? The answer is a resounding “yes”. I chose a case in which grafting helped create a solid foundation for a denture. This case also involved some mini-implants, but that should not take away from the focus on socket grafting.

Socket grafting can be complicated using autografts and Platelet Rich Plasma and as simple as the case shown here. As always, in practice, there are indications and uses for a variety of techniques and products. This example shows that socket grafting is well within the reach of many practitioners and should not be shunned based on a fear of an overly intricate procedure.
