For the last 10 years, support from companies like New Patients, Inc., has been crucial to Dentaltown’s success. In celebrating our 10th anniversary, we also celebrate these companies that have consistently supported us since the beginning. We talked to New Patients Founder and CEO William Howard “Howie” Horrocks to find out what’s new at New Patients and how Dentaltown has impacted the company over the last decade.

How have things changed at New Patients since 1999? What is the corporate culture like today vs. 10 years ago, and how has Dentaltown impacted that?
Horrocks: Well, for one thing we’ve grown tremendously. Just like any business (including a dental practice) we’ve had to assemble a great team – and we have. We’ve recently introduced our First Impression Video on the Web product and it’s taking off like wildfire. Our growth is due in no small part to all the exposure we’ve received from our Townie clients. They’ve shared their experiences with other Townies and it’s just snowballed. We are able to deliver full marketing and advertising services in every medium. Our clients get the benefit of our 20 years experience in attracting high-quality new patients into their practices.

Explain what Dentaltown means to New Patients.
Horrocks: We’ve been Townies from the very beginning. I still remember Howard (Farran) calling me at around midnight one night many years ago, to tell me that Dentaltown.com had just gone live. I was one of the first (if not the first) posters on Dentaltown.com. We’ve advertised in or written articles for Dentaltown Magazine, from its inception. We’ve been at every Townie meeting. It’s been an exciting experience being part of the largest online dental community in the world. The Townie forums have been wonderful for us. We’ve been able to stay in touch with so many great people in the dental world.

Over the last 10 years, how has the relationship with Dentaltown strengthened New Patients?
Horrocks: Most of our clients are Townies. Participating in the forums and attending or speaking at Townie meetings has been a huge boost to our business. Because of this we wanted to give something back. We've had our film crew at the last two Townie Meetings and we wanted to show people what they were like in hopes that they might come to the next one. Do you see a difference when working with Townies vs. dental professionals who do not use Dentaltown.com? Please explain.
Horrocks: Yes, of course. Townies in general are far more knowledgeable about technology. They also are very sharing with their colleagues. If something works, or if something doesn’t work, you will find out about it right away on Dentaltown.com.

From New Patients’ perspective, what sort of impact has Dentaltown had on the dental profession?
Horrocks: Absolutely huge. Having more than 100,000 dental professionals contributing and sharing every single day makes Dentaltown an incredible resource for any dentist, hygienist or assistant. It’s just like Howard says – with Dentaltown, you no longer have to practice alone.
