Synopsis:
The introduction of laser concepts in endodontics redefines how endodontics is performed. This three-part webinar will provide extensive insight into the contribution of the Er,Cr:YSGG laser in endodontics by emphasizing laser-assisted endodontics (LAE) as a comprehensive treatment concept. This first webinar will introduce LAE and outline the enhanced efficacy of this technology and its impact on streamlining workflow. The mechanism of action and applications in endodontics will be addressed, emphasizing an in-depth discussion on the management of endodontic biofilm and the concept of laser preconditioning.

Educational Objectives:
Upon completion of this course, you should be able to:
  • Appreciate the significance and the challenge presented by the apical third of root canal systems in the management of apical periodontitis.
  • Understand, considering CBCT findings, the pressing need for an improved approach to apical cleansing, specifically in the management of refractory and recurrent endodontic disease.
  • Review the concepts of apical foramen cleaning and apical patency.
  • Discuss biofilm in apical periodontitis and the limitations of current treatment protocols in the management of biofilm in complex root canal systems.
  • Understand how lasers work and the role of lasers in radial apical cleansing and review their practical applications.
Description of Speaker:
