Septodont North America Introduces Flavalta

Lancaster, Pa.—Septodont North America has launched Flavalta, a lidocaine hydrochloride 2% with epinephrine 1:100,000 formulation that incorporates flavoring agents. The anesthetic combines lidocaine with sodium saccharin and L-serine, ingredients approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for use as sweetening and flavor-enhancing agents in foods, beverages and pharmaceutical products.

According to the company, Flavalta provides an average onset of less than two minutes for infiltration anesthesia and two to four minutes for nerve blocks, with approximately 60 minutes of infiltration anesthesia and 90 minutes of pulpal anesthesia for nerve blocks. The formulation is methylparaben-free, latex-free and supplied in terminally sterilized cartridges. Flavalta is available through authorized dental distributors in the United States.
