An essential element for precision impressions
Voco recently introduced Retraction Paste, an astringent with aluminum
chloride that widens and dries the gingival sulcus, creating ideal conditions for
accurate and successful digital or conventional impressions.
Two common problems encountered with other retraction products and
methods are damage to the gingival tissue, which causes bleeding and thus
difficulty maintaining a dry field, and precision placing the cords or paste accurately
into the sulcus. Voco’s Retraction Paste offers a solution to both problems
with its long, thin, flexible tip, which unlike the metal tips of other brands, avoids
unintended damage to the gingiva and enables precise application.
Furthermore, the paste features a two-stage viscosity. The paste flows
easily under low pressure out of the capsule into the sulcus with minimal
extrusion force; once in place, its viscosity increases as it stabilizes and
temporarily widens the sulcus.
Primarily used for the retraction of the marginal gingiva and moisture
management of the gingival sulcus before analog or digital impressions,
Voco Retraction Paste can also be used to assist in the cementation of temporary
and permanent restorations, and as preparation for Class II and V
restorations.
The material’s bright turquoise color provides high contrast to tooth
structure and gingiva, ensuring the paste is visible and can be easily rinsed off
after one to two minutes. Voco’s Retraction Paste can save up to 50% of the
practitioner’s procedural time compared with other methods and brands, and
it can be used as a replacement for, or in combination with, a retraction cord.
