What’s New in Continuing Education?

by Howard M. Goldstein, DMD, Director of Continuing Education
Memorial Day is now over and it is officially summer. Is there a better way to spend a beautiful summer day than to lounge outdoors on your chaise with an iced tea (mine has vodka in it) and watch Dentaltown CE on your iPad?

There have been new additions to Dentaltown’s CE courses in the last couple of weeks.

Dr. John Nosti gave an excellent Webinar last month on “Smile Design Dentures.” This is now archived on our site as an excellent CE course. Today, people are living longer and want to look their best. Cosmetic dentistry isn’t limited to performing whitening, veneers or orthodontics. Tap into a hidden patient population that is seeking out the best in removable prosthodontics. Nosti explains his steps to success in providing “Smile Designed Dentures.” Through his process you will become faster, more predictable and increase profitability in removable prosthodontics, all while providing an outstanding cosmetic result. Dentures don’t have to be dreadful... they should be fun!

Dr. Lee Ann Brady has held the positions of resident faculty and clinical director for The Pankey Institute and executive VP of clinical education for Spear Education. She has presented a great CE course for all of us: “Posterior Composites Made Easy.” Who doesn’t want to find an effective easier way of placing posterior composites? We spend a lot of time investing in new materials and techniques to accomplish this goal. Brady’s course looks at aspects of placing a posterior composite from the initial prep through completion to identify key technique aspects that improve the predictability of placement, and the success of the finished restoration. She is a master at this and I am proud to have her on Dentaltown presenting her excellent material to help us do dentistry better and easier.

And one from our archives – a “golden oldie” that can help you in your office tomorrow – Jay Reznick’s “Practical Oral Surgery for the General Dentist: Surgical Extractions.” This course increases the knowledge level and comfort zone of the general dentist when performing surgical procedures. Topics covered include pre-surgical planning, local anesthesia, management of the surgical site and design and use of surgical flaps, handpieces and hand instruments. This has always been one of Dentaltown’s most popular and praised courses over the years.

Enjoy learning from the comfort of your home!
