Continuing Education Update by Howard M. Goldstein, DMD, Director of Continuing Education

What’s New in Continuing Education?

by Howard M. Goldstein, DMD, Director of Continuing Education
When I returned home from the Chicago Dental Society Midwinter Convention a few weeks ago, I felt like I needed a vacation, as is usual when I return from shows with so much information and so many people! It was great hanging out with Townies, some whom I’ve known for a long time and some whom I met for the first time at the meeting. Townie Meeting is right around the corner, and I am so excited to be around so many wonderful Townies all in one place! There will be great CE there too! It will be a blast, and I hope to see you all of you there!

There have been new additions to Dentaltown’s CE courses in the last couple of weeks.

We recently launched, Sandy Pardue’s course, Safeguards to Prevent Embezzlement. If you are anything like me, watching this course will be a scary experience. I found so many things that I do wrong in my own practice. Thirty-five percent of all dental practice owners will be victims of embezzlement. This is a startling statistic! By showing some major problems in dentists’ offices, Sandy will help you prevent becoming one in that 35 percent. If you are a practice owner or are planning on owning a practice someday, you owe it to yourself to take this course.

Another new course up on Dentaltown.com is called Inman Aligner – Rapid Anterior Orthodontics Simplified by Dr. Tif Qureshi. The Inman Aligner is a unique evolution of the removable spring aligner that can produce fast and simple anterior orthodontic outcomes. It is easy for the dentist to learn, and inexpensive for both the dentist and patient. Patient acceptance and compliance is very high. Dr. Qureshi shows, in a period of only two to three months, how simple alignment can harmonize the anatomy to provide a totally non-invasive smile makeover that challenges a traditional veneer makeover without the risks. Incorporating the Inman Aligner is a great adjunct service for any general dentist’s practice.

Throughout the year, we have a series of laser courses coming out. These will help everyone understand the different laser options available, as well as their various abilities. First up in this series is Dr. David Kimmel’s Laser Dentistry Basics: What Laser Should I Buy?

In this course, Dr. Kimmel explores how dentists can use lasers in their practices daily. He addresses which laser is best for which procedures and he also lays the foundation for the future courses in the series by discussing how lasers work and how they interact with tissue. In addition, he talks about what benefits are obtained by adding lasers, related to our patients and our practices.

Enjoy learning from the comfort of your home!
