NEW! Advanced Techniques and Efficiency in Endodontics
Speakers: Ali Nasseh, DDS, MMSc and Dennis Brave, DDS

Synopsis: This course will define and demonstrate what "Efficiency in Endodontics" means to both the staff and the patient. "Efficiency in Endodontics" assumes a constant quality of care and therefore, improved efficiency does not mean or imply a reduction in the quality of care. This course will demonstrate how the clinician can not only improve his/her efficiency but also enhance the quality of endodontic care delivered to the patient.

Educational objectives:
Upon completion of this course, participants should be able to achieve the following:
  • Be able to define "efficiency" from a clinical perspective.
  • Fully understand that efficiency of care and quality of care are not mutually exclusive.
  • Realize that efficiency applies to both clinical procedures as well as patient management.
  • Recognize the importance of practical, user friendly clinical set-ups, and how they contribute to the overall efficiency (and quality) of a procedure.
  • Fully comprehend the results of the author's pilot time-motion study of rotary instrumentation that demonstrated more time is wasted outside the root canal changing files, than time spent in the canal cleaning and shaping the preparation.
  • Understand the rationale for the use of .04 constant taper rotary files.
  • Recognize the benefits associated with a master gutta percha cone that closely matches the shape of the final endodontic preparation.
  • Realize that further advancements in technology and material science will improve both endodontic efficiency as well as the quality of endodontic care delivered to the patient.
  • Agree that astute clinicians will put the needs of their patient's welfare before their own
    personal needs.
  • Hopefully, choose to implement useful technologies and techniques that will result in both improved efficiency and better endodontic treatment for your patients. Simply put: "Make your practice patient-based."
