Comprehensive nonextraction treatment completed in 68 days using Fastbraces and a single type of archwire

The Fastbraces Technology bracket systems have reduced orthodontic treatment times to as little as 60–90 days.

This case presented on Dec. 21 is of a 27-year-old female with a Class I occlusion on both sides, minor crowding and an open bite tendency. Interarch vertical elastics were used throughout the treatment from the upper canine to the lower canine and lower first premolar.

The patented Fastbraces brackets were placed at the onset of treatment with the same type of superelastic square archwire in both the upper and lower arches. Noticeable progress was observed after 45 days on Feb. 1 (Fig. 2).

On Feb. 22, the upper archwire was placed in the gingival area (“overslot” activation) of the upper four incisors for the final visit to establish a desired overbite relationship (Fig. 3). A sectional archwire of the same type was placed in the slots of the upper four incisors to maintain the torque of these teeth during this final movement.

Fixed retainers were placed on both the upper and lower lingual surfaces, canine to canine, following bracket removal (Fig. 4). Panoramic radiographs (Fig. 5) show the corrected position of the teeth with root parallelism in 68 days.

The science of straightening teeth has come a long way since its inception and Fastbraces Technology is an example of the continued evolution of orthodontic treatments.
