What is Lean Dental Solutions?
Bleiweiss: Lean Dental Solutions started as a dental-practice management-consulting company in June 2013. Since then, while we consider ourselves experts in lean management, the company has put emphasis on developing and bringing our inventory control system, Grasshopper Mouse, to market.

What is your experience in the dental profession?
Bleiweiss: I started in the dental trade right out of college in 1976. I had degrees in psychology and sociology with a secondary teaching credential. So naturally, I went into dental sales and marketing. In the 39 years since then, I've worked as a distributor rep and a manufacturer's rep for a number of companies, as well as in marketing, R&D and product development.

You are in an elevator. A man asks what your organization does. You have 15 seconds before the door opens. What do you say?
Bleiweiss: We have Grasshopper Mouse, a cloud-based inventory control system that is the only one on the market developed by dental people for dental practices. It is the most complete inventory control system offered on the market today. Dental practices are among the most inventory-intense professions. Our customers tell us that the "Mouse" eliminates most of the headaches that come with managing inventory.

Tell me about the inventory software and some of its features.
Bleiweiss: Grasshopper Mouse is the only cloud-based inventory control system developed from the ground up with the dental practice specifically in mind. In the dental market, practices are advised to keep their supply cost at no more than six percent of their gross, but are never told how, nor given tools that allow them to do that.

Grasshopper Mouse provides the control and metrics to help them do that. But even more, gone are the days of overstock, expired products, emergency calls to vendors for overnight delivery, lost equipment sent for repair, losing track of credit due, and many other time- and money-wasters that most dental practices experience every day.
