Editor's Note By: Carol Murphy, Executive Editor

If you’ve been to the online message boards at www.dentaltown.com within the past year, (and I certainly hope that you have) you’re probably quite familiar with the ongoing discussion concerning two popular TMD devices–the NTI-tss and the Best-Bite Discluder. Both products are gaining popularity with consumers hoping to find relief from their migraine headaches. Within the dental community, issues concerning the effectiveness of these products are deeply-rooted in one of dentistry’s most spirited debates–occlusion.

These message board excerpts, featured this month in our Point/Counterpoint section, couldn’t be better suited for this editorial venue. The discussion, started in early August, is still going strong with almost 300 dentists posting their thoughts and 3200 more Townies observing the daily developments.

Speaking of controversy, many of you have written, phoned and emailed your thoughts to us about Dr. Gordon Christensen’s editorial in last month’s issue on the declining ethics in dentistry. If you’re curious about some of the feedback on this feature, be sure to visit the DentalTown Magazine This Month forum on the website.

Unfortunately, there was a misprint on Dr. Christensen’s fax number. The correct number is 801-226-8637. We apologize for any inconvenience this might have caused those of you trying to fax Dr. Christensen. Please continue your feedback...Dr. Christensen really wants to hear your thoughts.

National Dental Network, our corporate profile this month, has been providing education and training via distance learning to over 5,000 dental practices since 1995. Their newest program, Excellence in Cosmetic Dentistry 2, is designed to bring the crème de la crème of aesthetic clinicians right into your practice each month on DVD/VHS. Each of these well-known clinicians openly shares their knowledge and hands-on expertise with you while you’re earning AGD or ADA CE credits. Information about this program and NDN begins on page 16.

I always look forward to any type of ‘Best of’ or ‘People’s Choice’ awards in magazines. There’s just something about seeing what everyone else is using. Now, you have an opportunity to help create a truly unbiased report on dental products and services. Please take a few minutes this month to vote for your favorites in the Townie Choice Awards survey. If you haven’t registered yet, it’s extremely quick, easy and absolutely FREE! We look forward to publishing the results of YOUR survey in the December issue.
