Ivoclar Vivadent – Intercom

Intercom is a free online case planning application specifically developed with dentists in mind. This application also has been developed to facilitate improved communication between dentists and laboratory technicians, ultimately providing patients with improved results.

The free Intercom application provides many value-added benefits to dental professionals by promoting extensive case planning, as well as training in dental materials and techniques. By guiding dentists through each step of fixed or removable restorations, the learning process is made easy. Intercom was designed to allow maximum integration with established dental offices and laboratories, while facilitating ease of use. Intercom also provides treatment-specific literature, videos and other resources to help dentists specify the appropriate process parameters for restorative treatments and materials. Upon case completion, the application creates a detailed prescription which dentists can e-mail or send as a hard copy to their laboratory of choice.

After creating a free account and logging-in to the application, Intercom provides dentists with a variety of options for creating perfect restorations, whether fixed or removable, and for nearly every indication. The application prompts dentists to use desired shade systems, including ND, ST, A-D, Chromascop and 3D, and provides appropriate materials for such applications. As a result, a patient's unique dental characteristics can be matched by customizing margin, body and incisal shades.

To facilitate laboratory/dentist communication, Intercom supports and allows custom photograph upload through a simple process that can accommodate even extremely large files, up to 50MB per photograph. Intercom also generates a detailed laboratory prescription for increased case success and patient satisfaction.

For fixed and removable dentures, Intercom provides clinical resources to guide the tooth, denture base, mould and occlusion selection processes. For example, denture base materials and processing methods are automatically aligned with the parameters of the case to maximize clinical success, functionality and aesthetics. Denture base guides are also available to match the patient's gingival areas. As functionality is critical, Intercom incorporates sophisticated planning tools, such as the FormSelector, which identifies the correct maxillary anterior mould and then aligns it with the occlusion option which is most beneficial to the patient. Additionally, a denture gauge and papillameter enable dentists to consider the patient's specific facial characteristics when planning a new denture system.

After completing case planning and creating a detailed prescription, the free Case Tracker service monitors the progress of all outstanding cases. The case tracker issues weekly updates to computers or Internet-ready mobile devices. The application also has time-stamping capability to evaluate on-time performance and make case tracking easier than ever.
