Do you ever give thought to the number of
things you see, hear or read about in Dentaltown
Magazine or on Dentaltown.com? In 10 years time
we have grown into the Facebook/eBay/Google of
dentistry. I’m proud of our accomplishments and
the ability to provide news and information in real
time to an audience that is online, all the time.
Each month, I’m given the task of writing a column
well in advance of publication due to the
obvious needs for proofing, printing and postal
delivery. This month I will do my best to provide
news that you may be hearing for the first time.
Prescription Drug Benefits
for Arestin
By the time you read this you may have heard
that Arestin has launched a new program called
Arestin Rx Access. This is a terrific idea that will
help some of your patients afford Arestin treatment
when it is recommended. In some cases,
dentists can now prescribe Arestin for their
patients and have the cost of the drug covered by
the patient’s Rx drug benefit. This is the process
once your patient has been properly diagnosed: 1)
fill out the Arestin Rx Access Patient Prescription
Form, 2) fax the form to the specialized pharmacy
that handles all Arestin Rx nationwide, 3) the
pharmacy confirms coverage, contacts patient for
co-payment and fills prescription, 4) Arestin
arrives in your office in approximately 72 hours
ready for placement in your patient. This program
went through a successful pilot test in New York
City and is now available nationwide. I could not
get exact figures to predict coverage due to the
wide variances in benefits,
but it is safe to say
that enough plans will
provide coverage as to
make this program worthwhile.
Please visit www.myarestin.com to
register for the program and to learn more.
New Practice Management
Column Series
Dr. Joe Steven recently approached us with
a 12 part series titled “30 Years of Dentistry:
Lessons Learned.” His work at KISCO is well
known by most dentists and this series will be
worth reading if you are new to his work. Look
for the first installment of Dr. Steven’s series
in this issue. I’ve had the pleasure of
reading several of Dr. Steven’s
upcoming columns already and
he does not disappoint. His
sensible advice and concrete
suggestions can be implemented
by any office.
New things are happening all the time and I
encourage you to visit Dentaltown.com on a daily
basis for news and conversation. If you have something
special that you would like to share with me,
send an e-mail to: tom@dentaltown.com. |
