For the last 10 years, support from companies like Captek has been crucial to Dentaltown’s success. In celebrating our 10th anniversary, we also celebrate these companies that have consistently supported us since the beginning. Captek Director of Clinical Communication Dr. Dean Mersky, and President Nick Azzara took some time out to write about the impact of Dentaltown on Captek and dentistry as a whole.
Since 1999, Dentaltown has been a driving force in helping thousands of dental
professionals continually improve; and we at Captek count ourselves in that
company. The open and honest dialog we encouraged through Dentaltown.com
and Dentaltown Magazine continues to be extremely valuable to us as a manufacturer
and service provider. Over the years, Townies have provided invaluable feedback
and guidance contributing to the continual development of Captek. In 2005,
we were invited to a Townie Round Table Product Review prior to the annual
Townie Meeting in Las Vegas. As expected, the thoughtful insights and clinical
guidance that arose sparked some of our most dynamic technological advancements.
These very same advancements have helped technicians and dentists achieve
the highest level of aesthetics, strength and health benefits with Captek, while making
it easier, more predictable and expanding indications to more clinical situations.
After all of these years, we firmly believe Captek continues to be one of the most
advanced restorative materials in the world.
We listened intently to Townie doctors who wanted stronger materials that
addressed more clinical challenges. In response, the unique, non-oxidizing porcelain
bonder was updated to provide even more predictability for the lab and even greater
porcelain protection for the doctor. The new Universal Coupler for Porcelain (UCP)
added tremendous “toughness” to the original formula enhancing bond strength to
porcelains as well as composites. During this time, additional material updates and
simpler lab methods were implemented to provide even greater porcelain protection
in high stress clinical cases including functional cusps and marginal ridges.
Townies also told us they needed Captek for broader clinical solutions including
bruxers, implants, cantilevers and long-span bridges. This request helped propel our
next level of system enhancements released in 2007. Using advancements in Nano
manufacturing, we now have a line of Captek materials designed for specific purposes
including these high stress areas identified by Townie dentists. The first new Captek
Nano material increased strength factors more than 30 percent, yet still maintained the
favorable aesthetic and health properties unique to the original formula. The Captek
Nano Bridge and Implant material raised the bar on our already high clinical standards
and even earned the 2008 WOW Technology Award from the Journal of Dental
Technology. Today, there is a selection of Captek Nano materials. All are thinner, have
better cost control, greater strength factors and even better esthetic potential.
Ultra thin versions of Captek are now in final beta testing. This material will
compete for the thinnest crown cores available, thus answering the high aesthetic
demands of maxillary and mandibular centrals and laterals, and mandibular
cuspids. Even Captek’s gold color has been further refined so as to achieve maximum
aesthetics in the most limited space.
We couldn’t be more proud and appreciative for Townies having honored us
with six consecutive Townie Choice Awards for best PFM. Thanks to you and your
suggestions, our team remains continually inspired to accelerate research and innovations
and help our labs reach Advanced Certification levels. We have always and
will always continue to listen and learn from Townies.
