CygnaScope Micro Intraoral Camera By Christopher Weed
Vice President Marketing/International Sales
Cygnus Technologies

Getting quality digital images is easy with the CygnaScope Micro and Micro Plus Intraoral Cameras. The result of 16 years of engineering excellence by the market leader in dental imaging, these small cameras are packed with features that bring new innovations to this product category.

The innovation begins with Cygnus’ patented handpiece design. The ergonomic focus design eliminates the uncomfortable twist focus seen on many competing cameras. The CygnaScope requires only a slight touch to instantly adjust focus from high quality full-face shots to macro close-ups with remarkable detail. This high image quality earned the CygnaScope the REALITY 2002 rating for “Best Image Quality.” The handpiece is molded from high impact plastic for durability and comfort, and quickly warms to the patient’s body temperature to eliminate fogging. A convenient capture button is integrated into the handpiece design.

Portability is a key strength of the CygnaScope Micro models. Weighing in at a featherlight 26 ounces, the cameras are small enough to fit in the palm of your hand. Portability is enhanced thanks to Cygnus’ unique MultiConnect Cable. This concept replaces the bulky docking station traditionally associated with intraoral cameras with just one simple cable containing power and video connections. This design offers the portability of a wireless camera while eliminating frustrating static interference, poor image quality, and short battery life so often seen in wireless cameras. In multiple operatory installations, cost is substantially reduced versus competing products due to the simplicity of the product’s design. S-Video and Composite Video outputs will work with any television, video printer, or computer software. Optional FireWire connectivity allows for high speed digital connections to any equipped PC, laptop, or Apple product.

The CygnaScope Micro is available in two models. The CygnaScope Micro provides a live video output for easy integration with an external capture mechanism such as computer software or a video printer. The handpiece capture button easily integrates directly into many dental software packages. This is an economical option that provides just the features needed at a value price. The CygnaScope Micro Plus adds on-board capture for up to four images within the camera itself. Cygnus Technologies was founded in 1986 and is the industry’s oldest manufacturer of intraoral cameras. Cygnus pioneered the concept of the portable intraoral camera with the original CygnaScope model introduced in 1986. Features now commonplace on many competing cameras were first introduced by Cygnus. The company’s innovation still leads the field today.

Over 12,000 Cygnus intraoral cameras are in continuous daily use in nearly 100 countries. This far-flung product distribution network demands quality, reliable, well-engineered products and Cygnus delivers. In support of this large base of installed units, Cygnus has built a state-of-the-art manufacturing and service facility in Scottsdale, Arizona, that is equipped with the latest technology for camera production and service.

Cygnus Technologies products are distributed by many quality dental dealers, or are available factory-direct from the company. The Cygnus test drive program allows you to evaluate a camera in your own office to make an informed purchase decision.
