HOUSTON—Dental product innovator NuSmile will distribute free samples of its new BioCem Universal BioActive Cement at the Chicago Dental Society Midwinter Meeting in February.

Dentists who experience the product’s ease of use and quick bonding power during brief demonstrations at the company’s booth will receive a 2.5ml BioCem sample to take back to their practices.

“With most truly superior products, using is believing, and that’s certainly the case with BioCem,” said Diane Johnson Krueger, NuSmile president and CEO. “We are excited to let dental professionals witness firsthand just how easily BioCem handles, and how quickly it creates a strong bond to ceramic crowns.”

Mark Binford, NuSmile’s senior vice president for new product development, says that BioCem forms a superior bond between dentin and zirconia, lithium silicates and disilicates, or leucite glass ceramic materials. The product forms hydroxyapatite that actively mimics, and is available to replenish, the physical and chemical properties of the natural tooth and surrounding structures.

It also features a unique shock-absorbing rubberized resin component that makes it much tougher than traditional cements. Additionally, BioCem releases phosphate, calcium and fluoride ions into the oral environment, and it has been formulated and packaged into a low-waste delivery system.

“We are very excited about the benefits BioCem brings to dental practices and their patients,” said Krueger. “We feel that its superior bond strength in the most popular anterior and posterior full-coverage aesthetic restorations, coupled with its unsurpassed biological benefits, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness, truly makes it the ultimate universal cement.”
