Houston, TX — December 23, 2014 — This spring, medical device company, Forward Science Technologies (FST) began a Facebook Charity Campaign with the goal to give back to under served communities.

With every 500 “Likes” the OralID page received an OralID oral cancer screening device would be donated to a non-profit organization that serves an underprivileged community. Previously, devices have been donated to North Carolina Missions of Mercy in Cary, NC at 500 “Likes” and the Free Clinic of Simi Valley in Simi Valley, CA at 1000 “Likes”.

With the third milestone of 1,500 “Likes” in mind, FST announced their winner in the month of December. The votes sent to OralID by numerous Facebook users unanimously went to St. Christopher’s Foundation for Children in Philadelphia, PA.

St. Christopher’s Foundation for Children was founded on the mission of supporting the health and well-being of the children in the area surrounding St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children. The foundation has created several outreach programs including Farm to Families and Community Oral Health Initiative.

The Community Oral Health Initiative program uses several approaches to improve the oral health of the under served children of Philadelphia, PA. The program includes treatment opportunities through the Ronald McDonald Care Mobile, prenatal oral health services to pregnant women and oral health educational programs for young children in the surrounding schools.

“Meeting the team at St. Christopher’s Foundation for Children and seeing the Ronald McDonald Care Mobile in person was an experience I will never forget,” stated registered dental hygienist, speaker and oral health advocate Debbie Zafiropoulos.

Zafiropoulos presented the foundation with their OralID device.

Zafiropoulos has the honor of meeting professionals from all walks of life following their passion and creating change all over the world, but her experience at the St. Christopher’s Foundation was humbling.

"Having met the St. Christopher’s Foundation team and touring the facilities, I wanted to help their mission and pay it forward, and the OralID Facebook Charity Campaign was the way to do so. I am excited that we created another opportunity to screen our community with OralID and with the goal to save lives. I am both humbled and appreciative to know there are such caring professionals and true health heroes that go to work everyday with love in their heart, passion in the progression of technology utilization, and the fortitude to make the best out of every opportunity.”

OralID is overjoyed that the St. Christopher’s Foundation for Children is now able to add another important life saving tool to their Community Oral Health Initiative program.

The OralID oral cancer screening device will enhance the examinations that the children receive while in the care of the St. Christopher’s staff. While Facebook is mainly a socializing medium, for others it is a lifesaving tool. OralID encourages everyone to continue to “Like” the OralID Facebook page as they prepare for 2000 “Likes” so the next non-profit organization can receive the fourth OralID device in the FST Charity Campaign.
