Karin Irani, a general dentist in Los Angeles, was voted president-elect of the American Dental Association by the ADA House of Delegates on Oct. 12 in Indianapolis.

Irani previously served as the ADA’s 13th District trustee and as chair of the ADA Council on Membership. She has also been a trustee of the California Dental Association, chair of the CDA’s Leadership Development Committee, and president of the San Fernando Valley Dental Society.

She earned her dental degree from the Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry of USC and her law degree from Glendale University College of Law. W. Mark Donald of Louisville, Mississippi, and Randall C. Markarian of Swansea, Illinois, also ran for president-elect.

The House also elected Rhett Raum, a general dentist in Lafayette and Portland, Tennessee, as second vice president. Raum previously served on the ADA Council on Communications and as vice president of the American Student Dental Association and speaker of the ASDA House of Delegates.

Raum chairs the Tennessee Dental Association Political Action Committee. Until his election, he was the Nashville Dental Society trustee of the TDA and immediate past president of the Nashville Dental Society. He earned his dental degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Dentistry. Michael J. Safian of Shelton, Connecticut, and Jonathan Vogel of Dallas also ran for second vice president.

ADA President Richard Rosato installed both officers. The House met Oct. 10–13, and on its final day it voted to keep 2027 active member dues unchanged at $627.
