LEHI, Utah—A survey from Alta Voice found significant differences between dentists' and hygienists' perceptions of hygiene appointments. While 72% of dentists said they were "very confident" appointments met best-practice standards, only 29% of hygienists agreed.

The survey also found that 95% of dentists and practice owners believed there was enough time to complete appointments properly, compared with 52% of hygienists. Full-mouth periodontal charting was identified by 60% of respondents as the task most likely to be skipped when schedules fall behind. Alta Voice said practices using its voice AI platform report reducing charting time by 60% and saving more than 10 hours per hygienist each week.

The complete report, The State of the Hygiene Appointment, is available online.
