Photobiomodulation with Low-Level Lasers Enhances Orthodontic Tooth Movement: Umbrella Review

Posted: November 30, 2024
A recent umbrella review evaluated the effectiveness of photobiomodulation with low-level lasers in accelerating orthodontic tooth movement. Despite inconclusive interpretations due to heterogeneity in study results, the review suggests that this method is effective. Standardized protocols should be developed for more predictable outcomes. Key parameters for acceleration include LLLT frequency, irradiation points, time per point, output power, energy density, and wavelength range. Addressing bias and quality concerns is crucial for future research in this area.
