ADA Seeks Help with Development of New Standards

The ADA Standards Program is seeking participants to assist in developing several new dental standards. The proposed standards address pit and fissure sealants, biocompatibility testing, endodontic obturating materials, powered toothbrush performance, scaler handpieces and tips, accuracy of CAD/CAM-produced digital dentures, polymers used in dental instruments, corrosion resistance of dental amalgam, and methods for determining radiopacity.

Additional proposals focus on data standards for prior authorization, advanced explanations of benefits, good faith estimates, AI-based 2D radiograph analysis, and electronic dental and orthodontic laboratory prescriptions.

Volunteers may include dental professionals, industry representatives, and government and academic experts. Participation is open to anyone interested, and those wishing to join a working group may email standards@ada.org.
