Summer Newsletter to staff

With the summer upon us and more and more patients returning to the practice, it’s time to go over some of the changes we’ve made—which ones we’ll be keeping, reverting, etc.
From now on, we’ll be having in-person huddles every Monday morning again. I know that some of you enjoyed doing them via video call when it made sense to but, frankly, I miss making you all laugh in person. It seems that my humor isn’t remotely funny.

Lunch-and-learns are coming back, too! First one is a CE opportunity for everyone. I’ve hired a Shaolin monk to give us a 20-minute introduction on finding inner peace and the path of nonviolence. Then there’s a 45-minute demonstration on mastering the whooping crane kick. I figured that would come in handy if we can’t find enlightenment dealing with a full schedule of patients.

I’ve hired a social media expert who is going to be making TikTok videos all day. She’s a new grad who just got her degree in marketing with a focus on, as she put it, “fire ideas that go viral like cray.” I’m not sure what that means, but naturally she will be getting paid more than most of you.

As we loosen the mask policy around the office, we need to be aware of the faces we’ve been making (and able to hide) for the past year. At our last socially distanced get-together, I saw a lot of scowls, smirks, and what I think contempt looks like. I’ll be going around telling some of you that you should smile more as a friendly reminder.

Lastly, in my ongoing effort to refer out more cases and get back to posting on Dentaltown message boards, I’ve hired a local character actor to pose as my associate. He’ll be shadowing me into operatories now and again where he’ll wince, sound unsure about my proposed treatments, and help guide the patient to the corporate office down the block.
