Henry Schein One Appoints New Chief Executive Officer

Henry Schein One, a joint venture of Henry Schein and Internet Brands, has announced that Mike Baird will assume the role of chief executive officer, leading all aspects of Henry Schein One’s business. As CEO, Baird will lead the organization in driving growth, developing more seamlessly integrated products, and advancing digital innovations that help customers build stronger practices and deliver quality care.

Baird joined Henry Schein One in July 2020 as executive adviser to the Henry Schein One board of directors, where he helped develop strategic initiatives. In his new role, he will work with leaders across Henry Schein One, including the company’s software businesses in Europe and Asia-Pacific, to continue developing practice management, dental savings plans, marketing, office information technology and patient engagement solutions. Baird’s team will also partner closely with Henry Schein Dental, utilizing the company’s portfolio of supplies, equipment and practice services to provide comprehensive solutions for customers.

Before joining Henry Schein One, Baird held several leadership positions in health care information technology, and most recently served as president of Health Systems at American Well.

Premier Dental Products Celebrates 19 Years of Supporting Give Kids a Smile Program

Premier Dental Products recently announced that over the past 19 years, it has donated more than $4 million to the American Dental Association’s Give Kids a Smile (GKAS) program. Its latest donation includes 10,000 individual treatments of Enamel Pro Varnish, a fluoride varnish optimized to provide tooth-building ions of calcium and phosphate.

GKAS has provided underserved children with free oral health care across the United States since 2003. Each year, approximately 6,500 dentists and 30,000 team members volunteer at local events to provide free oral health education, screenings, and preventive and restorative treatment to more than 300,000 children. To date, more than 6 million underserved children have received free oral health services through GKAS.

GKAS program events for 2021 kicked off on the first Friday in February, which is also Give Kids a Smile Day, and will be held throughout the year.

Rhinogram Announces Partnership with MediGroup

Rhinogram, a cloud-based, HIPAA-compliant virtual care platform, announced its partnership with MediGroup, one of the largest health care group purchasing organizations in the United States. Through this partnership, MediGroup members will be able to implement Rhinogram’s platform to provide contactless care for patients, as well as communicate in real time via simple texts, multimedia texts, social media and live video.

Rhinogram’s platform gives providers several options for contactless care and extends care to patients with limited access, such as those living in rural communities. It integrates with most EHR and PMS systems, synchronizing secure, encrypted patient communication into clinical workflows. It also includes a quick-message triage to appropriate team members, allowing the scheduling team to handle appointments, billing staff to field financial and insurance queries, and freeing clinical team members to address care concerns.

Biolase Launches Waterlase Perio Academy

Biolase has formed a community of periodontists through the creation of the Waterlase Perio Academy (WPA). The WPA is designed to assist clinicians in providing periodontal and implant services with improved patient outcomes through the continued adoption of laser technology.

The program will foster peer-led learning with ongoing mentorship from WPA’s leading clinicians, featuring online meetings and case reviews by experts in the field. The academy is open to all periodontists utilizing the Waterlase technology.

As part of the WPA, members will have access to facilitated discussions around complex cases, ongoing mentorship from leading clinicians, didactic online meetings and interactive case reviews. Academy leadership is composed of experienced periodontists, including Drs. Paul Chang, Curry Leavitt, Stephen John, Todd Jorgenson, James Papp and Bret Dyer. Virtual progressive training sessions will also be added in real-time to address new procedures as they arise, and members will be part of the “first-to-know” community when Biolase releases products.

Candid and Carbon Announce Partnership to Produce Clear Aligners

Carbon, a 3D-printing technology company, and Candid, a digital platform for oral health care, are teaming up to produce clear aligner models. Using Carbon’s L1 printers and DLS process, Candid is introducing Candid Pro, its orthodontics-as-a-service doctor-driven clear aligner therapy offering designs specifically for dental and orthodontic practices.

Candid offers an end-to-end approach, including the use of a patent-pending treatment plan system, a technology platform built for clinicians and a suite of patient support. By leveraging Carbon DLS, Candid will provide dental clinicians with an efficient, scalable way to deliver clear aligner therapy for patients.

The Candid platform includes Carbon’s L1 printer, a large-format 3D printer that allows organizations to prototype and produce large parts and smaller parts more economically.

MouthWatch Hires Dental Hygiene Executive Jamie Collins

MouthWatch recently appointed Jamie Collins, RDH-EA, BS, to the newly created dual position of senior client success manager and professional education manager. In her role as client success manager, Collins will handle the onboarding and success of VIP clients such as key opinion leaders and universities who implement the TeleDent all-in-one teledentistry platform. As the professional education manager, Collins will lead the projects associated with the MouthWatch CE course curriculum, webinars and additional education programs.

Collins brings more than 20 years of dental industry experience to her new positions. An author, lecturer and practicing dental hygienist who also has served as a dental assisting and dental hygiene instructor, she also has contributed to multiple textbooks and curriculums for school systems across the country. Collins is a member of the American Dental Hygienists Association and the Dental Codeology Consortium Committee for dental coding.
