Planmeca USA Moves U.S. Headquarters to Larger Facility
Planmeca USA, a manufacturer of dental imaging and CAD/CAM equipment, recently moved its North American headquarters to a larger, high-tech facility that will house advanced training and facilitate innovation. The 90,000-square-foot facility, located in Hoffman Estates, Illinois, is more than 13,000 square feet bigger than the previous Roselle, Illinois, location.

The new office will host a testing and distribution center as well as the Planmeca Digital Academy that includes a showroom and a robust training and education facility. The additional marketing and education functions in the Dallas location will all transition to the Hoffman Estates headquarters.

In addition, the new office will provide training through Planmeca Digital Academy. The education center will host a variety of courses and hands-on training, from introductory to advanced instruction, to support the needs of dealer partners and customers.

The company will host a grand opening in early 2020 showcasing the new space, showroom and brand-new academy. For more information, visit planmeca.com/na.

Henry Schein’s Steven W. Kess Receives Honorary ADA Membership
Henry Schein recently announced that Steven W. Kess, the company’s vice president of global professional relations, has been named an American Dental Association honorary member for his dedication to improving oral health and access to care. Kess accepted his membership at the ADA FDI World Dental Congress 2019 in San Francisco on September 6.

Kess, who joined Henry Schein in 1991, has applied the model of engagement for Give Kids a Smile to several other programs focused on improving access to care, including the NYU Dentistry/Henry Schein Cares Global Student Outreach Program, created to address public health and access to care issues in dentistry and oral health, and the Alpha Omega-Henry Schein Cares Holocaust Survivors Oral Health Program, established to answer the White House’s call to action to help vulnerable survivors age with dignity and support.

Kess was also instrumental in the development of Project Accessible Oral Health, a global public-private partnership and the first to nationally assemble and connect a consortium of dental and medical professionals, corporations, organizations, policymakers, educators, people with disabilities, caregivers and other stakeholders in pursuit of equal access to culturally competent oral health care.

Carestream Dental Announces Several New Partners for Full Guided Implant Treatment
Carestream Dental has announced a preferred partnership with Swissmeda, maker of the Swissmeda Dental Planning System (SDPS) for 3D implant planning. With SDPS, dentists and dental technicians can plan implant cases and obtain a customizable guide design module for advanced implant guided surgery procedures.

As a major enhancement for CS Solutions for Implants—its CAD/CAM product portfolio—Carestream Dental has introduced a data export feature that streamlines the workflow from the CS 3D Imaging software Prosthetic-Driven Implant Planning module to the SDPS in a single click. After clicking on the icon within the software, the dental professional can plan and decide on the optimal patient treatment and send the final surgical guide design to the lab or service provider for fabrication.

Carestream Dental also announced an integration with 360imaging, a provider of 3D digital implantology based in Atlanta, Georgia, offering a range of products and services to implant professionals and their patients, as well as dental laboratories. Once clinicians have finalized their implant planning within CS 3D Imaging software, they can easily transfer their planning to 360 Courier platform in a single click to order a 360ips surgical guide for any indication.

Ultradent Products Joins Crown Council to Raise More Than $1.8 Million for Children’s Charities
Ultradent Products has partnered with Crown Council in its effort to raise money for children’s charities. Between March 1 and Aug. 1, 2019, more than $1.8 million was raised through Smiles for Life, the charitable arm of the Crown Council. Since 1998, the campaign has raised almost $44 million benefiting more than a thousand children’s charities in North America.

Crown Council is an alliance of dental teams passionately committed to promoting oral health, fighting oral cancer and serving their communities through charitable work. Dentists who participate in Smiles for Life donate their time to offer professional tooth whitening to patients at a discounted price. The patients then make their payments directly to Smiles for Life instead of the dental practice. One hundred percent of their payment goes to children’s charities—half is earmarked for a charity of the dentist’s choice and half goes to Smiles for Life, which gives to charities such as Garth Brooks Teammates for Kids Foundation, Feed the Children, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, Ronald McDonald House and many more.
