DentaltownUK News: CDO Sara Hurley Announces NASDAL ‘Dental Check by 1’ Practice of the Year Effort

Speaking at the recent NASDAL biannual conference, CDO of England Sara Hurley, announced the launch of the 2019 NASDAL ‘Dental Check by 1’ Practice of the Year Award. The aim of the campaign is to increase the number of children age 0–2 who access dental care.

The award seeks to recognise a practice that has successfully introduced the British Society of Paediatric Dentistry (BSPD) Dental Check by 1 into their practice. Established in 2018, the award seeks to highlight excellence in the provision of oral care and prevention in children and showcase the opportunity to achieve a real business improvement.

Particular credit is given to applications from dental practices with evidence supporting their contribution to the overall health of their community.

The CDO commented, ‘I am delighted to endorse such a worthwhile award. The UK-wide Dental Check by 1 campaign was launched by BSPD in partnership with the Office of the Chief Dental Officer England and we are strong supporters of the initiative and early attendance. I look forward to hearing how the entrants have reached out to their communities and engaged with families.’

Nick Ledingham, the chairman of NASDAL, added, ‘We know that doing the right thing makes good business sense—as an association we look to recognise business excellence in dentistry. This award recognises those practices whose efforts and imagination have reached more patients.’

Liz Roebuck, president of BSPD, welcomed the formal announcement off the 2019 award, saying: ‘When DCby1 was first launched, we were convinced that it would be highly rewarding for the practices that committed to it. Our expectations were exceeded with the entries for the 2018 NASDAL DCby1 Practice of the Year Award. We are delighted to continue our support for award. and look forward to reading more inspiring entries in 2019.’

Practices who are interested in entering the 2019 NASDAL DCby1 award, should visit the NASDAL website, where they’ll find relevant details and can register. All entries must be submitted before 5pm, Friday 30th August. The winning practice will win £1000, a trophy, and the right to use the ‘NASDAL Dental Check by One Practice of the Year 2019’ title.
