Henry Schein Signs Global Partnership Agreement With ICD
Henry Schein has entered into a new partnership agreement with the International College of Dentists (ICD) to become the exclusive partner for the organization’s centennial anniversary.

Founded in 1920 by Drs. Louis Ottofy and Tsurukichi Okumura, the ICD is defined as an honor society dedicated to the recognition of outstanding professional achievement and meritorious service and the continued progress of dentistry for the benefit of all humankind. Today, the ICD has more than 12,000 fellows in 122 affiliated countries.

The organization will organize a series of special events under the theme “Celebrating the First 100 Years.” The events will take place throughout 2020, leading up to a gala celebration during the ICD 2020 international council meeting on November 13, 2020, in Nagoya, Japan. Through Henry Schein Cares, the company’s global corporate social responsibility program, Henry Schein will partner with ICD to recognize the contributions of its members and extend the global reach of both organizations to carry out and administer educational, training and humanitarian initiatives.

Young Innovations Acquires Johnson-Promident
Young Innovations, a global manufacturer and distributor of dental products, recently announced its acquisition of Johnson-Promident. Johnson-Promident is a manufacturer and supplier of dental handpieces, preventive consumables, infection control products and rotary instruments. The company also is a service provider for repairs and maintenance of dental handpieces.

This acquisition marks Young Innovations’ 10th acquisition in four years. Andrew Jones, the company’s vice president of corporate development, says this shows the company’s continued commitment to growth through acquisition in focused categories of preventive, restorative and infection control.

Johnson-Promident CEO Gary Kris will continue in an advisory role for Young Innovations and primary operations will stay in Valley Cottage, New York. There will be no immediate changes to ordering and service procedures for customers or vendors.

3Shape Announces Inaugural Community Symposium
3Shape, a provider of 3D scanners and CAD/CAM software solutions for digital dentistry, will host its first community symposium, in Phoenix, Arizona, Oct. 4–6.

The two-day event will explore technology and workflows that are driving digital dentistry in dental practices and dental labs today and in the future. Presenters include Jonathan Ferencz, Sonia Leziy, Brahm Miller, Lee Culp, BJ Kowalski and others delivering insight on digital dentistry.

The symposium is open to doctors and dental laboratories using 3Shape solutions and professionals interested in discovering more about digital dentistry. Special sessions and hands-on classes will focus on the specific needs of dental practices and labs. Symposium attendees will also get an exclusive preview of upcoming 3Shape technology and can gain up to 15+ CE credits.
