Anoop Maini is a general dentist with an interest in aesthetic and restorative dentistry. His main passion in dentistry is orthodontics so we were interested to find out what he deemed essential for day to day life in the practice.
We asked him what items were on his wishlist or to tell us what ones he couldn’t live without.
He chose to tell us five items in his practice that he couldn’t live without.
1. Quicklase 5w Diode Laser
This laser conducts soft tissue corrections in aesthetic cases as well as disinfection of root and periodontal pockets. It also assists in peri-implantitis management.
It’s also great for low-level laser treatments such as TMJ muscle relief and ulcers and cold sores.
2. Carestream 3600 intra oral scanner and Carestream 81003D cbct
Carestream has produced a great digital intra-oral scanner. It’s ideal for digital impressions in restorative treatments and orthodontics. The combination of the cbct with the DIOS assists with implant planning and surgical guide fabrication for accurate implant placements.
3. 5x Loupes with led light from Bryant Dental
The older I get, the stronger magnification I seek due to the increasing accuracy needed in dentistry. These loupes fit the bill perfectly.
4. Venus Pearl composite from Kulzer
This is my workhorse composite for anterior and posterior, simple multi shade layering, high strength and easy polishing.
5. Spacewize chair side space analysis orthodontic software from the IAS Academy
In non-extraction cases, it is useful to ascertain in advance the space requirements with relevance to developing an arch form, which takes into account the important landmarks of incisal positioning that will give a good occlusal and aesthetic outcome.
