When was the last time you attended a lecture and became so enthusiastic about a new idea that you wanted to go right back to your practice and try it immediately? If you’re tired of the same old lectures and speakers who haven’t practiced in the last decade, you really owe it to yourself and staff to attend this year’s DentalTown Gathering in Las Vegas, Nevada. Townies and practicing dentists, Sameer Puri and Tarun Agarwal, initially only knew each other from the DentalTown message boards. But, on a visit to California in May 2002 to meet each other, they discovered how exhilarating it was to ‘put a name with a face’ and became great friends.

Utilizing the power of DentalTown Magazine and the online community, the two took on the enormous task of coordinating the first DentalTown Gathering in February 2003. The meeting was so successful; plans were made immediately for the second annual DentalTown Gathering in 2004.

The meeting runs three days—March 25-27. Besides being a fantastic opportunity for you and your staff to get rejuvenated, it’s also an incredible bargain. If you register before February 1, the fee is only $495 for doctors and $195 for your staff. This year the meeting will be held at the beautifully remodeled Aladdin Hotel and special room rates are available for the DentalTown group.

Here are just a few of the Townies who will be giving lectures: Marshall White, DMD; Drs. Mike Melkers and Jeanine McDonald; Ms. Jill Coon, RDH; Rod Kurthy, DDS and Mike A. Esposito, DDS. I guarantee they will present all new material—gleaned from their own personal experience. Register today by calling 1-866-DEN-TOWN (866-336-8696). This event is sure to sell out in the next few weeks.

I hope you enjoyed reviewing the results of the Townie Choice Awards in last month’s issue. John Walsh, of Designs for Vision, (winner in the magnification/loupes category) called an error within the company’s award description to my attention. Their product description (on page 62 of the December issue) should have read: Designs for Vision builds the only completely customized dental telescopes. Each system incorporates the eyeglass prescription; individualized focal length and the telescopes are built through the lens at your interpupillary distance. Additional information is available by email to: info@designsforvision.com or by calling 800-783-3300.
