the oldest and largest national dental society in the world, with more than 157,000 members from all 50 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico and affiliate members from around the world. The ADA is a member-run organization managed by an elected Board of Trustees and a 473-member House of Delegates. Each year the ADA's Annual Session brings together leaders in dental practice, research, academics and industry to present hundreds of continuing education courses over four days. This year, the 151st ADA Annual Session will be held October 9-12, 2010 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida.

ADA Annual Session Highlights

Continuing Education
  • Earn credits with more than 245 ADA CERP courses which offer plenty of skills and ideas for you and your dental team to take home and use right away.
  • More than 50 percent of ADA Annual Session lectures are free with your registration. (However registrants must have tickets for all courses regardless of fee status.)
  • In an effort to minimize paper waste, traditional course handout materials will not be printed for distribution on site. Handouts will be available online beginning on Friday, September 17.
ADA World Marketplace Exhibition
  • Saturday, October 9 –Monday, October 11: 9:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m.
  • Find solutions for your business and the latest dental products and services. Learn from the hundreds of exhibitors as you test and compare the latest products on the market.
The LOC: Learn, Optimize, Connect
  • Located in the World Marketplace Exhibition, the LOC, where you can earn free CE credit, offers 51,000 square feet of the latest high-tech trends in dentistry.
  • The 2010 LOC will feature:
    • Laser Pavilion: Gain hands-on experience with a variety of dental lasers
    • Competition Hub: Learn from your peers while viewing the results of four professional competitions held exclusively at the Annual Session
    • Technology Expo: Representatives from Pride Institute will explain how to build a business model, implement effective marketing plans, effectively utilize social media and more, followed by the opportunity to try out the latest dental technology
    • 3D Imaging Center: Compare the functionality of 3D imaging equipment from leading manufacturers and learn how this technology can enhance your ability to treat your patients
ADA Pavilion and Welcome Center
The ADA Pavilion, located at the front of the exhibit hall, is the place to learn about breakthrough oral health research, take advantage of discounts on ADA Catalog products, learn about marketing tools to help find new patients, see new patient education materials and more.

Education in the Round
Education in the Round offers live-patient procedures in a fully functional dental operatory, with an interactive format between you and the speaker. View up-close high-definition images of the doctor's work while the procedure is in process. These six Education in the Round courses will be offered for free to dental schools and ADA members as a live simulcast, and also as a Webinar for 30 days after the meeting.

SocialClix
This free service allows you to search your own social network( s) and contact listing(s) to see if your colleagues are also attending the 2010 Annual Session. Simply opt in to SocialClix when you register for the Annual Session and SocialClix will let you know who among your colleagues is attending, and invite those who have not registered yet.

U.S. Department of Commerce International Buyer Program
For the third consecutive year, the ADA will participate in the 2010 U.S. Department of Commerce (USDOC) International Buyer Program. This program helps bring dental buyers, importers and exporters from around the world together under the experience and expertise of the USDOC/U.S. Commercial Service where buyers and importers can successfully generate business by identifying and meeting reputable U.S. companies and interested suppliers.

ADA Annual Session Special Events

International Reception
  • Saturday, October 9: 6–7:30 p.m. at the Hilton Orlando, Pool Deck
  • Join us for a reception in honor of our international guests. Network and meet with dental professionals from around the world while enjoying light refreshments.
Opening General Session
  • Saturday, October 9: 8–9:30 a.m. at the Orange County
  • 2010 Distinguished Speaker: Malcolm Gladwell
    • Gladwell, author of three New York Times #1 Bestsellers, has an incomparable gift for interpreting new ideas in social science and making them understandable, practical and valuable to business and general audiences. As we consider the future of oral health, Gladwell's insights into society and success will prove relevant.
ADA Night at Universal's Islands of Adventure
  • Sunday, October 10: 7–11 p.m.
  • Join friends and colleagues at Universal's Islands of Adventure theme park. ADA attendees will have exclusive access to the theme park and each of the unique islands, including the new The Wizarding World of Harry Potter.
  • ADA attendees can purchase tickets for the exclusive event at the same time they register for the meeting. Ticket price includes complimentary shuttle service from ADA official hotels, access to the park from 7–11 p.m. and a $10 food coupon per guest, to be used at any concession stand during the ADA event.
Presidential Gala
  • Tuesday, October 12: 7 p.m. Reception; 7:45 p.m. Dinner and Dancing
  • Join your friends and colleagues for an elegant evening honoring Dr. and Mrs. Ronald Tankersley at the Hilton Orlando, Orange Ballroom. Enjoy a three-course dinner and dance the night away while enjoying your favorite hits. Cost: $125
House of Delegates
  • Saturday, October 9 – Wednesday, October 13. Times vary; check House of Delegates section on ADA.org for more information.
  • Meetings of the House of Delegates will take place at Hilton Orlando, Orlando Ballroom on the lower level. Anyone may attend the meetings as a visitor upon display of a 2010 Annual Session badge.
