G-Cem Self-Adhesive Resin Luting Cement by GC America
|
G-Cem Self-Adhesive Resin Luting Cement
|
From GC America comes the latest innovation in universal resin luting cement: G-Cem Self-Adhesive Resin Luting Cement. GC America, as it often does, has taken this category of cements to a new level of ease of use, patient satisfaction, strength, and reliability. G-Cem has fast become a favorite in my own practice as an exceptional cement.
What makes this resin cement so excellent is its incredible capacity for hydrophilicity. This means no post-operative sensitivity and outstanding patient comfort, which, let's face it, has been a significant problem with other resin cements. G-Cem's unique chemistry makes this the first resin cement to contain water and functional monomers (4-MET and phosphoric esters) for its self-adhesive properties, rather than using polyalkenoate acid. As a result, G-Cem's hydrophilicity causes very effective
|
penetration into the dentinal tubules. After it penetrates the tubules, G-Cem sets tightly and becomes hydrophobic. The result, unlike most resin cements, allows G-Cem to form a strong chemical bond, sealing and protecting the tooth from external stimuli and eliminating the risk of post-op sensitivity whether the tooth preparation is moist or dry. I was impressed with G-Cem from the first case I used it on. It is very easy to use because there are no extra steps of etching and bonding. I have used G-Cem for cementation of a wide range of dental restorations including porcelain fused to metal crowns and my favorite crowns, Captek crowns. It can also be used for all ceramic crowns and any cored zirconia or aluminous crowns like e.max, Procera, Cercon, and just about any other aesthetic crown system out there. I have used G-Cem to cement fiberglass and metal posts as well with great success. One of the most frustrating things about cements is many of them are difficult to clean up. G-Cem is definitely one of the easiest cements I have ever found to clean up.
My dental assistants love G-Cem because it is provided in the easy-to-mix capsules that GC America has become famous for and is used in their Fuji resin reinforced glass ionomer products. Another reason G-Cem is quickly becoming a favorite of mine is because it works well in both moist and dry environments. Because it is a resin, it provides high aesthetic potential, it is very strong, has excellent color stability and is very resistant to external stains. Also, because it has the strength of a resin, your crowns will not come off, so if you ever have to take these crowns off, it will be with a crown removal bur.
Smart Buy Summary: G-Cem is very simple to use, can be used for all of your cementation needs, easy preparation and clean up, greatly reduced sensitivity, it is very strong and releases fluoride. I found it to be an excellent cement that has taken the self-etch resin cement category to a new level.

Sapphire Supreme Curing Light
|
Give yourself two gifts this year with the Sapphire Supreme Plasma Arc Curing and Whitening Light. Its superior technology has made it a star in university studies and a favorite in thousands of dental offices around the world. There’s no easier or better way to boost your curing and whitening performance than incorporating the Sapphire Supreme into your practice. I have been using the Sapphire light since it came out about nine years ago. Like nearly every dentist who uses one, once I had it I couldn't live without it.
When a Dalhousie University study compared the leading Halogen, LED and Plasma Arc curing lights, it found that the Sapphire Supreme maintained its power over the greatest distance where light intensity of the other lights fell quickly after just 2 to 3mm. Thanks to its unique power conversion technology, Sapphire Supreme was the only light whose irradiance did not significantly decline from 0 to 10mm. This means that I can cure my restorations after bulk filling without worrying if I have cured down to the bottom of the proximal box. That is a real time saver. This curing light is remarkable and is great for use on kids. You will really appreciate the difference between a three-
|
second cure and a 20-second cure when you have a fidgeting child in the chair. Full-mouth restorations as well as seating porcelain veneers and Lumineers become a lot more pleasant and profitable when they can be accomplished quickly. In addition to its unparalleled curing power, Sapphire Supreme also helps deliver brilliant whitening results. The patented Sapphire Whitening Crystal allows you to illuminate both arches for effective hands-free whitening. Since the Sapphire Supreme does not emit UV rays, you can whiten with maximum safety and minimal patient set-up – eliminating complicated facemasks and sunscreen. Used in conjunction with the Sapphire Professional Whitening Gel, smiles can be whitened without any post-operative sensitivity. Sapphire Professional Whitening Gel’s unique combination of adjective hydrogen peroxide and desensitizing enhancer represents a remarkable advancement toward exceeding patients’ whitening expectations.
The Sapphire Supreme Plasma Arc Curing and Whitening Light is the only light that combines exceptional whitening and curing to become a truly essential tool for my dental practice. There is no need to switch lights depending on the procedure being performed in the operatory. Plus, with the timesavings, you can become much more profitable and even add a few extra rounds of golf to your schedule. I love my Sapphire Supreme light and it is an essential part of making my dentistry much more efficient. It is life changing for a dentist to switch to super fast curing and it will save you time and money.
Smart Buy Summary: Get yourself the fastest and best whitening and curing light on the market, the Sapphire Supreme by Den-Mat.

Jazz Supreme Polishers by SS White

SS White Jazz Polishers for Composites
|
We are doing more composite resins than ever before because of what our patients are requesting. New generations of dental composites reaching the marketplace each year, coupled with rise in the total number of direct anterior and posterior composite restorations placed, have created a need for a unified and simplified systematic approach to the finishing and polishing of these dental materials.
The common denominator between patient and clinician is the placement of long-lasting aesthetically pleasing restorations. An efficient and simplified approach is an important road by which most clinicians prefer to travel to meet the needs of patients and create satisfying long-
|
lasting restorations. One area that has been a frustration in my office for many years has been our inability to find a reliable and great system to polish the different kinds of composite resins out there. Jazz Supreme Composite Polishers by SS White are designed to provide single-step composite polishing to all types of composite materials. Jazz Supreme diamond-impregnated composite polishers are offered in right-angle cups, points, and discs. Used with light pressure and minimal water at 5,000 to 8,000rpm, they feature stainless-steel gold-colored shanks that provide optimal seating while minimizing the risk of breakage. Jazz Supreme Polishers have been designed to create an ultra high gloss polish on all types of composites including nanofilled, microfilled, macrofilled, and hybrid composites. To shape and prepolish composite resin restorations, I simply increase the pressure and speed of the polishers. To create that final incredible polished surface, I simply decrease the speed and pressure of the polisher. You don't need to change to a different polisher; you hold all you need for polishing right in the palm of your hand.
I started jazzing up my composite restorations a few months ago and they have never looked better. Jazz Supreme Polishers will add a new level to the aesthetics of all of your resin restorations instantly.
|
Smart Buy Summary: Jazz Supreme polishers will save you time, which will save you money on all of your composite resin restorations. By reducing the number of steps needed to polish from two or three to one, coupled with the fact that Jazz Supreme works equally well on all composite material types, significant timesavings and a reduction to office overhead can be accomplished.

Smart Endodontics by Discus Dental
|
|
Leave it to Discus Dental to come up with the perfect name for their endodontic system. The Smart Endodontics platform and underlying technologies are based on the idea that proper apical preparation is the primary determinant of the success of a root canal. Backed by science and supported by a plethora of clinical research, this cutting edge technology is both unique and extremely effective at addressing the apical third - an area of the root canal often neglected.
I just started using the Smart Endodontic system on a few cases and am amazed at its efficiency. The LightSpeedLSX NiTi rotary instrumentation system is designed to create canal preparations that are biologically optimal. LSX cuts only where you need to cut and thoroughly cleans and shapes the apical third into a perfectly round preparation. I like the fact that safety is a key feature of the LSX system.
Is there any worse day in the office than when you can't get to a separated instrument?
|
The instruments are designed such that when extreme force and torque are exerted onto them, they are designed to separate at the handle instead of at the tip, greatly reducing the risk of irretrievable separation. I have found that the perfect complement to the LSX system is the cordless EndoPAL handpiece. Automatically set for the right speed (2,500 rpm) and maximum torque to accommodate LSX, the EndoPAL is as simple as on-and-off with no adjustments necessary. Four-handed dentistry has never been easier.
A unique piece of this system, EndoVac, is the first and only irrigation system on the market that utilizes apical negative pressure to enable safe irrigation to the apical termination with an abundance of fresh and continuous irrigation solutions (See accompanying picture). In all my years in dentistry, I have never seen a comparable product on the dental market. When used correctly, EndoVac eliminates the risk of an irrigation accident as solutions that are potentially harmful, if they go beyond the apex, simply cannot get past the suctioning tips of the macro and microcannulas.
The final pieces to the Smart Endodontics system are designed to ensure that our well-prepared and disinfected canal can be obturated as effectively as possible (see accompanying picture). SimpliFill apical plugs are used to fill the apical 4mm of the canal with a "cork-in-a-wine-bottle" friction-fit seal. When pushed to length, hydraulic force pushes sealer into lateral canals.
The final obturation step is accomplished with the cordless HotShot backfill gun. The gun heats up within 20 seconds, and has variable heat settings for gutta percha or Resilon pellets. Once contact has been made, the trigger is expressed and warm obturation material is extruded into the remainder of the canal.
|
Smart Buy Summary: The Smart Endodontics system provides biologically optimal preparations, biomechanical irrigation all the way to the apex, maximum microbial control and is a very efficient system. This is a well-thought-out endo system that any general dentist can easily integrate into his armamentarium.
