CEREC all-ceramic restoration

CEREC the computer-aided system for the design and production of all-ceramic restorations
Posted: February 27, 2006
CEREC – the computer-aided system for the design and production of all-ceramic restorations – was first developed twenty years ago. In the meantime, some 12 million restorations employing CAD/CAM technology have been successfully carried out and the system is now considered standard procedure, authenticated by scientists and practitioners.

For this reason Sirona is holding a symposium in Berlin on 17 and 18 March, 2006, on the theme «Art, Science, Education and Economy in Dental Practice and Laboratory». The symposium has been organised under the scientific direction of Prof. Dr. Werner H. Mörmann who, together with Dr. Marco Brandestini, is responsible for the development of the CEREC system. High-calibre speakers from across the globe have been invited, and they will be providing topical insights and updates on computer-aided dentistry.

The symposium will also provide opportunities for less formal meetings where experts, colleagues and practitioners can exchange experiences and information. Perhaps you would be interested in having a personal meeting with one of the key speakers? In order to make the necessary arrangements we ask you to enter the details of whom you would like to meet on the attached reply sheet. Then we can let you know before the symposium whether it has been possible to arrange a meeting and when you could meet.

For representatives of the media who are not acquainted with the CEREC system and would like to find out more, we have organised a special briefing:

Introduction to CEREC Technology
on Friday, 17 March, 2006 at 3.15 p.m.
Location: Maritim Hotel Berlin, Stauffenbergstr. 26, Room 4/5, Ground Floor

During the meeting there will be a demonstration of the design and production of an all-ceramic restoration. Sirona aims to use the symposium to present the latest developments in CAD/CAM technology for the dental practice and dental laboratory and has arranged a meeting for this purpose:

Press conference
on Friday, 17 March, 2006 at 4.15 p.m.
Location: Maritim Hotel Berlin, Stauffenbergstr. 26, Room 4/5, Ground Floor

Following a brief welcome address by Jost Fischer, Chairman of the Board of Sirona, Prof. Dr. Mörmann will give an overview of the development of the CEREC method; from the first vision 20 years ago to the present day with CEREC being recognized as standard procedure in dentistry. We will then present the latest innovations and trends of this established method that constantly develops according to current requirements.

The above proceedings will be translated simultaneously from German into English.

Afterwards, all journalists and symposium attendees are invited to attend the big Anniversary Party, which is taking place in the Berlin Tempodrom under the motto «Feel the Passion». It will feature a colourful and varied programme of live music, show and entertainment, with plenty of delightful surprises. In short, it will offer a welcome opportunity to relax after the excitement of the day’s meetings.

You can attend any of the events that take place within the symposium free of charge. Should you need help in finding accommodation in Berlin, we would be pleased to assist.

We look forward to seeing you at the celebrations in connection with the 20 year CEREC anniversary in Berlin. Please let us know by 24.02.2006 if you can attend using the enclosed fax reply form.

Yours sincerely
