Ortho Organizers is now offering the Oyster Esthetic Self-Ligating (ESL) Bracket System. Oyster ESL brackets are made from a strong, stain resistant polymer composite and are a “True Twin” straight wire bracket design. Oyster ESL brackets feature rounded corners and smooth contours for greater comfort, a mechanical bond base for durable bonding and a hinged “snap-on” cap which holds archwires into the bracket slots while allowing freedom of movement for faster end results. Oyster ESL Brackets are available in .018 and .022 slot sizes in the Roth Prescription*.
A dual purpose passive self-ligating system, Oyster ESL brackets incorporate active capability via the cap for anterior torque control; the system is passive when using smaller archwire sizes and becomes active when using larger rectangular wires where the cap will come into contact with the archwire on the anterior brackets thus applying pressure or more torque within the brackets. .018 anterior brackets become active with .017 x .025 and greater archwire sizes and .022 anterior brackets become active with .019 x .025 and greater archwires sizes. The advantage of this approach is that all brackets can be passive during the initial leveling, aligning and rotating stages (free sliding) and during final stages of treatment, the anterior brackets become active (with the larger rectangular wires) to achieve better torque control and thus more predictable and better end results.
An optional reinforced polycarbonate composite solo tube is available to compliment the Oyster ESL Bracket System and features a double buccal tube configuration that has both an .018 x .025 and .022 x .028 slot in the same tube. An Oyster ESL instrument is used to open the cap with one end and has a wire director and height gauge on the opposite end for increased functionality. Oyster ESL Brackets are available individually, in 5x5 sets, or in a special 5 case kit which includes enough materials to finish five patients; 5 cases 5x5 brackets, 10 packs of tooth tone archwires, an Oyster ESL instrument and an Oyster ESL practice thimble.
