Kansas City, MO – August 18, 2014
 –  International non-profit Smiles Change Lives (SCL) is now working with iFoster, an organization dedicated to helping children in the foster, adoptive, and kinship communities.

Smiles Change Lives has worked with children in the foster system in the past. The organization helps connects low-income children in need of orthodontic care across the U.S. and Canada with orthodontists willing to donate their services. This often includes children who do not live with their biological parents.

iFoster, which launched in 2010, created an online community to bring together caregivers and support organizations across the country. An important element of iFoster’s program is its curated resources.
Caregivers of foster children often struggle with the economic gap between the cost of raising a child and the amount of money provided by social services. One of the most requested needs of the foster community is affordable orthodontic care.

Smiles Change Lives will be the go-to resource for low cost orthodontic treatment for the over 20,000 members of iFoster. The SCL program provides as much as 90 percent off of the costs of traditional orthodontics. According to SCL president Tom Brown, “The foster parents who are willing to go above and beyond by spending time identifying resources for these children are to be admired. We are excited to work more closely with these motivated individuals.”
