The Academy of Laser Dentistry (ALD), an international professional membership association of dental practitioners and academicians, is dedicated to the advancement of the use of lasers in dentistry through education, research and advocacy.
This full day program will take place during the ALD 2014 Annual Conference from February 27-March 1, 2014 in Scottsdale, Arizona.
Thursday, February 27
- Dr. John Hendy will discuss "Radial Firing Periodontal Tips in Er,Cr:YSGG and Er:YAG Lasers: A 9 Year Study"
- Dr. Inder Raj S. Makin will discuss "Output Power Characterization of a Portable Diode Laser System Deployed for Clinical Use"
- Dr. Doug Gilio and Dr. Mitch Lomke will lead a PARTICIPATION COURSE on "The Use of Dental Lasers to Perform Periodontal Surgery: Lecture & Hands-On"
- Dr. John Graeber will present "Mastering Your Diode Laser: Perio Surgery"
Friday, February 28
- Dr. Laura Braswell will lead a panel discussion on the "Myths, Misconceptions, and Controversies in Laser-assisted Periodontal Therapy and Maintenance"
- Dr. Doug Gilio will conduct a PARTICIPATION COURSE "The Rationale For Oral Bacteria DNA Testing In Conjunction With Periodontal Laser Therapy"
- Mary Sornborger Porteous, RDH will present "Adjuctive Use of the Diode Laser in Non-Surgical Periodontal Therapy: Exploring the Controversy"
- Dr. Arthur Levy will discuss "Periodontal Health: Built On Comprehensive Communication"
The ALD invites and welcomes all healthcare professionals to attend our 21st Annual Conference, with the theme of "Lasers Coming of Age: 21 Years of Enlightenment; Changing Perspectives, Broadening Horizons" for these important programs, and take full advantage of the array of conference course offerings, in Scottsdale, AZ from February 27 to March 1, 2014.
Each track is designed to meet the needs of those seeking Academy of General Dentistry (AGD) Participation Course credit hours towards AGD's Fellowship and Mastership awards programs.
Additionally, the "Laser Safety Officer Training" course by Dr. Scott Benjamin and Jan LeBeau, RDH, MLSO will be offered on Thursday February 27 as part of the ALD conference. This course is designed to meet the educational requirements of the Arizona state regulations of the dental practice's Laser Safety Officer (LSO). This type of educational program must be completed by the practice's LSO to enable the mandated registration of their Class 4 laser devices with the Arizona Radiation Regulatory Agency (ARRA).
